If you’re hands feel exhausted from typing on the computer all day, give them some extra TLC by adding a paraffin glove treatment to your next facial. They will feel like new while you feel like a princess!

If you can’t get to the spa, keep a light but vitamin rich moisturizer with a refreshing
rose or lavender scent on your desk. Every few hours give your hands a needed break, a rich rub
and light scent. Your whole desk area, not to mention your hands, will reinvigorate you!

At the spa, a manicure is a luxurious  treatment that includes exfoliation, massage and overall thorough nail care that will leave you feeling ultra pampered while looking perfectly polished. Make sure you keep them looking that way by taking care of them at home, too!

tipsAdd a coat of clear nail hardener every other day to keep them from chipping. Also, cuticle oil when used sparingly can keep your nails from looking worn and weathered, but soft and pretty!

give yourself some breathing room

More often that not, you are racing to a spa appointment, which actually can make you more stressed upon arrival! So,try to show up at least 15 minutes early so you can take-in the ambiance, relax and enjoy a hot cup of tea and some quiet time. Remember, most spas run a tight schedule and unfortunately cannot extend your session should you be late.

tipsAsk in advance if there are any special amenities, such as a steam room, sauna or Jacuzzi, so you can plan some extra me-time accordingly!

Many people may feel a little uncomfortable about baring it all! But, no
worries! The spa professionals know how to cover you in just the right places.

Typically for a massage, one should remove a bra, but feel free to leave your underwear on, if preferred. It is common to remove it, however, as one will be covered there during any body treatment session. During a facial, feel free to keep on your undies but remove the bra as well for expo sure to your sensitive décolleté area. For body treatments such as scrubs or wraps, you may request “disposable underwear” to discard after use. Or you can go without them!

tipsAs always, your comfort matters most and should you be uncomfortable, you can wear what you like.

when in the spa room

Remember that this is your time, and everyone at the spa wants you to have the best experience possible. So, feel free to create the ambiance that makes you most comfortable!

tips If you don’t want the therapist to talk to you during the session, no problem. We recommend for you to kindly say, “I’m sure you won’t mind if I just zone out and tune out to fully enjoy this.” If you are feeling a little cold, ask for a blanket or to turn up the temperature in the room! If you are dissatisfied with the “pressure” during the massage, please tell the therapist. The therapist should listen to you and change the pressure accordingly.

Remember that you should always alert the spa and staff that you are
pregnant as some products and treatments may not be ok for you! So, if you’re pregnant or think you may be pregnant, tell your therapist and avoid certain aromatherapy/essential oils. Or, to be extra safe, avoid them altogether.

tipsWhile essential oils are great for you and can be deeply relaxing and therapeutic, because of their pure benefits and quick absorption into the blood stream, they’re not good for pregnancy.

waxing

There are different types of waxes – hard waxes, honey based waxes, and those geared for more sensitive skin. Ask the spa which type they use and which one would be best for you!

tipsWant a pain-free experience? Take an Advil/aspirin about an hour before in order to cut down any discomfort during waxing! Also, ask the spa for their recommendation on great products for eliminating any chance of   those ingrown hairs that often appear afterwards! When it’s “that time of the month”, you may experience more pain from waxing than other times during the month. Try to plan waxing another time for less discomfort!

tips for tipping

Tips should be at least 15% - commonly 15% – 20%, and at many spas you may have to tip in cash.

the day after

There are ways to maximize the benefits of your treatments, even days after! You may feel rejuvenated and lighter even days following a great massage. Your skin will feel more vibrant and fresh even in the weeks following if you keep up a good regime at home.

tipsThey aren’t kidding when they say to drink lots of water! After a massage, the toxins are dislodged from your “trigger points” and now roaming through your body, so drink water to rid yourself of them. After a facial, try to keep up the good work by using quality products targeted to your skin type until your next profes sional treatment. This should include a good exfoliating product (specific for your skin type) as well as a great day and night moisturizer and quality sunscreen.
